How Do People
Truly Find
Their Place?
This is the question that sparked everything. Belonging in Action was born from the belief that no one should have to navigate a new society alone and that Scotland is stronger when everyone can contribute.
Why Belonging
Matters
Belonging is not a soft concept.
It is a social, economic, and human necessity.
Research across Europe consistently shows that when people feel they belong, they:
- Contribute more confidently
- Innovate more freely
- Integrate more successfully
- Build stronger communities
Yet many migrant professionals, students, and families arrive with enormous potential but very limited social capital.
"Networks determine opportunity."
Belonging in Action exists to bridge that gap.

"When diverse talent is connected and empowered, everyone benefits."
Built for
Community
Belonging in Action is a not-for-profit social sustainability organisation that supports underrepresented communities, particularly African communities, while engaging wider diverse groups across Scotland.
Community Interest Company
Registered as CIC in Scotland (SC881006), a legal structure designed to ensure our activities benefit the community.
Not-for-Profit
All surplus is reinvested into programmes and community impact. We exist to serve, not to profit.
Community-Led
Our programmes are shaped by the lived experiences of migrants, professionals, and students across Scotland.
Inclusion by Design
We design every initiative around genuine belonging, not tokenism, not assimilation, but real participation.
Enable individuals to connect, participate, and contribute meaningfully.
We believe that when people are given the right networks, opportunities, and platforms, they don't just integrate, they transform the communities around them.
Inclusive, connected, and thriving communities across Scotland.
The Spirit of Action
These core principles guide every decision we make and every programme we design.
